Le Dos indocile des mots

Nicole Brossard · Translated by Karen McPherson

J

just the jewel days of July

I was juggling in my journal

with jasmine, japonica, jacaranda (tropical American tree

with violet blue flowers) a jujube of I (jujube: red drupe with sweet white flesh, from which you make jams and fruit jellies) jubilant

in between my jaws an I jumping out jaguar

of always joy of July
