What We Publish
We publish reviews of poetry in translation and critical essays on the practice and theory of translating poetry.
What We're Looking For
Clear, attentive writing engaged with the formal and cultural dimensions of translation, including how meaning, sound, and structure move between languages.
Length & Response Time
Short Reviews 800-1200 words
Longer Reviews: 1200–2500 words
Essays: 1500–4000 words
We aim to respond within two weeks, often sooner. Accepted work may be published shortly after acceptance.
Format
12 pt font for prose with block paragraphs and blank line paragraph separators. Quoted poetry can be spaced or indented or not, italics or not. Poetry can be 12 or 10 pt .
Other
Simultaneous submissions are fine, please notify us if your work has been taken elsewhere. Feel free to use AI tools for research and background context — the same way you'd use a search engine. But the ideas, insights, and words on the page? Those should be yours.
Rights
We seek first serial rights. Work may be reprinted elsewhere after publication with attribution to The Transformation Review.
We accept work that has appeared on social media or online, provided the author has retained rights to the work.
Note on Translation Reviews
Please include full bibliographic details for the work under review: original author, translator, publisher, and year.
